Life Lately

You’ll soon discover, if you haven’t already, that a normal week for us consists of games. Whatever the season, Ivan is playing the sport. He wrapped up flag football last week with two games. The first game they won, beating a team that had been undefeated for two years!!! It was such a fun game to watch and we were so proud of the team. This win put them in the championship game the next day. They played hard, but ultimately lost the championship. It was hard, but a good life lesson to focus on the journey and all that the team had accomplished over the course of the season.

This last week was our small town’s annual festival. The Apple Blossom Festival. Decades ago the town was filled with apple orchards. While very few remain now, the Apple Blossom continues to be a long-standing tradition. Vendors and the carnival come to town and there are events throughout the community all week. The kiddos got to be in the parade, we ate fair food and ended Saturday evening watching the fireworks.
I put in some more work on the Southwest Summer collection. I cannot wait to launch it in June! This piece is inspired by the red terra cotta clay that is such a staple of the southwest landscape.
As I finished the piece, I was reminded of the terra cotta pots that my grandma plants all of her flowers in. She lived in Southern Utah when we did and was a big part of my childhood. She lives here in our town now, just up the street. So this design will be named the Fae earring, after grandma.

I hate to just talk about the weather, but seriously the warmth has been a welcome change! We are soaking up the start of summer and have really enjoyed being outside more.
