When I was a young girl, we moved quite often. Once the move had happened, and we were unpacking, I would decorate the new mantle. Decorating was not something that my mom took interest in or maybe perhaps just didn’t have the time for, and she was more than happy to let me take the reins.
We moved to Payette, Idaho when I was 12. I shared a room with my sisters, four of them, until I was 17. At that time, my dad converted the garage into a couple more bedrooms. In my new room, he put up shelves that lined the whole room. He wanted me to have room to decorate.
Once I was married, I had no home decor style. I painted our first bedroom blue- and not a good shade. Chris and I are coming up on our 14 year wedding anniversary, and the primary bedroom still doesn’t look like I want it to. Largely due to the two commodities that easily run dry as an adult. Time. Money.
I’ve spent time and money into other areas of the house. The primary bedroom has always been last on the list. Decorating with what I had on hand. Not really putting much thought into it. For years I wasn’t even really sure how I wanted it to look.
Slowly but surely I’m piecing the look together. For budget purposes, I need to make a change or two at a time. There’s no big sponsored post happening over here. We got a new bed several months ago. That was a good start.
For months we’ve been on the hunt for a dresser. When Chris sent me this text, I knew exactly what I wanted.

I had made a mood board and it helped me to see the vision for our bedroom. Since it needs to come together over time, now I can add to our room as the budget allows and know I’ll be happy with the look in the end.
Now that we have the furniture, I think paint is up next! It really will make a huge impact. It’ll probably still be a couple months out, but I’m excited none the less.

Here are the links to the items we already have that are on the mood board. As we purchase items, and make sure we love them, I’ll be sure to update the links!
