We live in a small town. I’ve often thought, and said out loud, “there’s nothing to do here!” While our little town lacks amenities comparable to a big city, there are opportunities and events here.
I’m starting a “Living Local” series. Here, I’ll share local places we visit and experiences we have. This series will be helpful to those who live in or near Payette, Idaho. Maybe it’ll inspire those who aren’t local to explore their own community a little more or come visit Idaho!
This last weekend (June 24th), was the 5th annual Lavender Festival. There were four local lavender gardens that participated.
Burlap n Buds
1423 Larson Rd. Weiser, ID
Buds, Blossoms and Bouquet’s
439 Hyline Lane. Ontario, OR
Lavender Gardens of Payette
9090 Washoe Rd. Payette, ID
WM Knight Lavender, Flowers and Herbs
4459 SW 5th Ave. New Plymouth, ID
While we only visited one the Lavender Gardens of Payette, since I had the baby and grandma with me. There was a punch card for those who were visiting all. Once your card was punched with all the visits, you were entered into a drawing for a prize basket. Each stop also featured local vendors, as well as products made from the lavender.

We bought a lavender scone and lavender fudge. I hadn’t eaten lavender before, and the treats were delicious. I purchased a little lavender start as well, I’m excited to plant it!

We also were able to pick our own lavender. For $5 you could fill a twist tie. The girls each got to gather their own bundle.
It was such an enjoyable morning with the girls. We were able to support small businesses, experience something new, and make memories. Put the Lavender Festival on your bucket list for next summer!
