Necklines & Necklaces

Do you wear necklaces? For years, I did not! However, I’ve discovered that they really do add to an outfit. And I love the way they look. Here’s some styling tips for pairing the perfect necklace with your neckline.

Common Necklace lengths
  • Choker 14-16″
  • Princess 17-19″
  • Matinee 20-24″
  • Opera 28-34″

To measure: take a string and circle it around your neck, cutting it at the length which you would like your necklace to hang. Take the string and measure along a ruler to see how many inches you’ll want your chain.

We are all different!! The width of your shoulders, chest size, neck circumference & height all factor into how each chain length will fit you.

Tips for styling necklaces :

For layering: Choose one pendant necklace.

Cascade your chain lengths. Wear different lengths so each necklace will be showcased.

Choose different sized chains & different textures.

Use chain extenders to make the perfect length.

You won’t always need or want layers. One necklace can be the star of the show! The neckline of your shirt becomes your frame for the necklace. Wear chains that will show. Frame the necklace with in the neckline. This works well with scoop and v-neck shirts.

If you have a high neckline, go for something a little longer like a 20-24″, or longer. Wear the necklace over the shirt so the chain can be seen.

You can also hook two necklaces together to make two different lengths that stack perfectly. This helps reduce tangling. Or grab one of these clasps that allows you to hook multiple necklaces together. Also helping to reduce the tangling.
