Playroom Rainbow Wall

We bought our house pre kids. Upstairs it has a little living room. Pre kids it was the TV room. Awe the laps of luxury back before we were busting at the seams of our house.

Once the kids got a bit older and quit sharing a room, we lost the play room. Oh how I loved being able to shut the door on the mess. This TV room eventually evolved into the play room. Basically my kids are taking over all areas of my house and I’m left with about 6 inches of my king sized bed to myself, on a good night.

As we transitioned the TV room to the play room, I wanted a daring pop of color that I wouldn’t be able to put in any other room of my house. A rainbow wall. Fun, bold jeweled tones that set the tone for the magic of a play room.

Chris installed some simple trim for me. We used 1×4 pre primed MDF. In hind sight, I would have painted the rainbow 🌈 first and then install the trim. It would have made for a quicker paint job.

We spaced the 1×4 12 inches apart starting on the right and working our way left. We also added trim at the base, on top of our baseboards. Then calked the seams and filled nail holes.

Paint colors: Sherwin Williams

Yellow Bird, Baked Clay, Bold Brick, Coral Rose, Moss Rose, Ash Violet, Stardew, Whirlpool, Lagoon, Privilege Green, Sassy Green

We’ve loved the rainbow wall. The day I need to paint it will mean my kids have grown up, which is a sad thought. But with the trim, we can easily paint it a solid color and it will be a pretty accent wall.

Here’s how it is currently styled, when it’s clean and the toys are put away. Complete with the couch that Chris brought home from the alley a couple blocks over.
